Roineabhal is a comfortable and spacious house, full of interesting furniture, pictures and photographs, the family home of Roger and Maria Soep who offer bed and breakfast, and optional (much recommended) dinner - and a very warm welcome.
The house (built by Roger himself) is set on a south facing slope overlooking rushing and tumbling Kilchrenan Burn on the edge of the village, about a mile from Loch Awe. All around are woods, hills and wild grassy moorland. There is good fishing on Loch Awe (Pike and record Brown Trout), and Loch Awe is one of the most beautiful in Scotland.
This is a great area for walking; there are 33 Munroes (hills over 3000 ft) in the area, and the Caldonian Oak Wood reserve of Glen Nant is close by. Roineabhal is convenient for exploring Glencoe (45 minutes), Oban (35 mins) and Mull, and the ancient stone circles and cairns at Kilmartin (30 mins).
Roger is a great source of local knowledge - so ask him!
