Taynish House and jetty

Taynish House is a 6 bedroom, listed country house set in a five acre fenced/walled garden at the end of a wooded peninsula in Argyll. It is remote and tranquil. The house is surrounded on three sides by land owned by Scottish Natural Heritage, and on the fourth side is land owned by the house which connects to the foreshore of a sea loch. From the house to the foreshore is about 150 metres. By the shore there is an historic bathhouse and a 26 acre island opposite, both owned by the owners of the house, and a private jetty. The house is 4 kilometres from a charming, unspoilt coastal village with the nearest house being 2.5 kilometres away. The road from the village is single track and mainly untarmaced.

The house is let with the use of a 15 foot fibre glass rowing boat with a 6 H.P. Yamaha outboard engine. There are two canoes and also several lobsters pots. The bathhouse has an open fire and is an ideal base for local picnics. You can catch mackerel, sea trout, saithe and edible crabs. The whole peninsula is in fact a wildlife sanctuary with otters, deer, butterflies, sea birds, herons, and sea urchins. The sea loch is well known for sailing and the nearest village has a natural harbour with slipway.

There is a renowned seafood restaurant and pub in the local village. For excursions both the sealife centre at Oban, and Inverary Castle and Jail are one hour away. The nearest 9 hole golf course is 45 minutes drive away. There is trout fishing in numerous lochs, and salmon fishing to let by the day in a river which is tidal and slow running; the latter is reached in 30 minutes driving.
