The Scots Kitchen

Reviews: Cookery of Scotland

The Scots Kitchen: Its Traditions and Lore with Old-time Recipes, F. Marian McNeill

Mercat Press, Paperback - 259 pages (20 October, 1993)

Reprinted as a reproduction of the 1929 original, this book is a great Scottish cookery classic. F. Marian McNeill collected recipes from all over Scotland believing that some might eventually be lost if they were not written down. I'd recommend this book totally without hesitation as giving the most accurate (and entertaining) insight into true Scottish traditional cooking.

Where else can one find the real way to make Scots Flummery, Partan Pie, Meg Dod's Haggis, Mrs McNab's Scones, or Highland Slim Cakes?
