The Rough Guide to Scotland, Donald Reid, Rob Humphreys
(6th Ed), 2004 Paperback - 850 pages (Rough Guide Travel Guides)
This is a book I always take with me whenever I'm travelling around Scotland. It really is the best guide - far better than any competing titles.
The book is divided into three sections:
Basics which includes overall advice about visiting Scotland.
Guide itself which is full of insider tips, places to visit, useful telephone numbers, opening times, local aneccdotes and historical facts and advice.
Contexts with overviews of history, architecture, wildlife, music, etc.
