This charming terraced cottage stands near the harbour in the picturesque fishing village of Gardenstown on the sunny Moray Coast of Scotland, about 80 miles east of Inverness and 52 miles northwest of Aberdeen. Only one road winds down to the harbour here and the old houses swarm up the hill on terraces, linked by steps and walkways.

The cottage, on three levels, is surprisingly spacious and has been beautifully renovated and most comfortably furnished. There are views of the harbour from the upper windows, and to the rear there is an attractive decking area with furniture, ideal for relaxing in the sun with a book and a glass of wine.

On the ground floor is the large dining kitchen, on the first floor a light and airy sitting room with wood burning stove. The bathroom and a small playroom are also on this level. On the second floor are three excellent bedrooms. Central heating and double glazing throughout ensure its cosiness

No matter what your taste in holidays, whether beach, sporting, walking, touring or just plain idling, Gardenstown offers a splendid base. It has its own sandy beach within easy walking distance of the cottage; there are numerous good golf courses along the coast; there are many coastal and inland walks (notably one along the shore under the cliffs to the little village of Crovie); there are castles and stately homes to visit.

You can also take your pick of the Whisky Trail, the Coastal Trail or the Castle Trail. On a wet day, the nearby town of Macduff offers its Marine Museum, while nearby Duff House is an outpost of the National Gallery of Scotland. Wild life enthusiasts can look out for dolphins in the surrounding waters and seabird colonies on the cliffs.

The town itself has an excellent baker/grocer, a butcher and pub, while further facilities are available in Macduff (8m) and Banff (9m).

Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included in the rental. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the cottage.
