Ashintully Cottage
Blairgowrie, Perthshire
Sleeping 6
Ashintully Cottage is a south-facing cottage attractively set within the grounds of Ashintully Castle, midway (15 miles) between Pitlochry and Blairgowrie in Perthshire, and 3 miles from the village of Kirkmicheal (pub, restaurant, general store, riding).
One mile up a private drive off a quiet side-road, it stands detached at the side of Ashintully House and the ancient stone Castle - which dates back to the 1500s and boasts three ghosts. It was the site of murder and mayhem in the 16th and 17th centuries, and 'Duncan's Pool' within the 3,000 acres of its surrounding Estate is supposedly where one of the murders took place. Guests are welcome to use the tennis court within the grounds, to fish the lochs, and to walk the 3,000 acres and miles of beautiful countryside around, while it is a good base too from which to explore Royal Deeside, the Fife Coast with St. Andrews, or the many attractions of The Cairngorms, since this is the beginning of the Scottish Highland countryside.
Heating is by open-fire (logs provided), and electricity (
included). Bed-linen and towels are
included. All the beds have electric blankets. Pets welcome by arrangement.
