Mill of Keir Cottage

Sleeping 4

Secluded and very private, right beside the Allan Water near the Victorian spa town of Bridge of Allan and 10 minutes for the historic city of Stirling in central Scotland, is Mill of Keir Cottage. A former miller's cottage dating from 1840, it retains many of its original period features and is full of character. It stands in its own large grass garden, ideal for pets and children, and has no passing traffic except the occasional train which trundles across a nearby bridge over the river.

Mill of Keir Cottage

The cottage offers comfortable and cosy accommodation, with a woodburning stove in the original stone fireplace in the sitting room, a separate dining room, and upstairs, two double bedrooms with original panelling and coombed ceilings. The owner deals in antiques and collectables, and has furnished the house to create a very traditional Scots cottage atmosphere.

It is rare to find such a secluded cottage in such a central location, with the Stirling-Perth motorway just half a mile away at the end of the private road to the house. This will whisk you to the historic city of Stirling, with its castle and Wallace Monument, in just 5 minutes or so, or you can catch the train from Bridge of Allan (several excellent restaurants and interesting shops) and be in Edinburgh in less than an hour. Be sure to visit the site of Robert the Bruce's famous victory at Bannockburn, also just down the road from the cottage. To the north and west, you can easily head off to Callander (any children in the party may wish to visit the Blair Drummond Safari Park on the way) and the beautiful Trossachs, to Loch Earn (sailing and wind surfing) and the west coast or north to the Highlands beyond Perth. You really couldn't be better situated for some of the best that Scotland has to offer.

For the energetic there are good walks, riding and a whole host of other leisure and cultural activities in the immediate area.

Heating is by electric heaters (included!included) and wood burning stove. Bed linen and towels are included!included. One behaved pet is welcome by arrangement.
