Ornsay House stands right beside the harbour, on a quiet, cul de sac, in the pretty Highland village of Ullapool. The house enjoys superb views across the sea as well as giving you a front row seat to watch the twice daily departures of the ferry bound for the Outer Hebrides.

This former old manse is a Thomas Telford house and, consequently, is a solidly built, traditional, Highland house now offered as a warm and comfortable holiday home. The present owners have refurbished it for their own use in the future. The six bedrooms and two bathrooms make it perfect for larger groups or for families wishing to holiday together. Another bedroom may be available downstairs, just right for those of limited mobility.

Ullapool is situated on the shores of Loch Broom and is centrally placed for exploring the magnificent scenery of Wester Ross as well as being near to local amenities. A little further north, on the Coigach, you will find some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the whole of the UK. There, you have the opportunity of climbing, walking, loch and sea fishing, and cycling. At Achnahaird there is a sandy beach.

Take the road round to Achiltibuie or the little winding one to Lochinver. You will be constantly stopping to admire the view and take photos. Three miles north of Lochinver is the fabulous beach at Achmelvich. If you wish you can continue on to Durness and Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point of mainland Scotland. Going south there is the village of Gairloch and Poolewe's famous sub-tropical gardens.

From the harbour in front of the house you can take a boat trip out to visit the Summer Isles and observe the marine life of the area.

Ullapool has hotels, shops, a leisure centre with pool, and a golf course, so there is no lack of activities close to home as well.

Bed linen and towels, the first £10 of electricity and the first £15 of oil central heating are included in the rental. Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. No smoking in the cottage.
