Royal Circus

Royal Circus, two semi-circular crescents surrounding gardens, was designed in 1823 by possibly the greatest of Edinburgh's neo-classical architects, William Playfair. Kirsty MacGregor's family home at Number 22 is on the North side facing South, and she has set aside two lower-ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms for bed and breakfast guests with a separate entrance accessible via original stone steps and a small courtyard.

Just round the corner is Stockbridge where you can find Herbies delicatessen/café and the best artisan cheese shop in Scotland, Mellis. All around are friendly pubs, excellent restaurants and cafés, and the walk (-plenty of buses too-) up to Princes Street is 8 minutes of sheer delight - passing through the beautifuly proportioned and detailed classical architecture of the Georgian "New Town", a World Heritage Site.
