Breakfast is served in the dining room, a sunny room which looks out across the garden and over the fields.
Joanna has her own special recipe for porridge and serves it on a buffet with home-cooked compôtes and salads made with garden fruits in season, cereals, fruit juice and yoghurt.
Tea, coffee or hot chocolate are offered with toast and home-made jams and marmalade and honey from the Lammermuir hills.
A traditional Scottish cooked breakfast includes the village butcher's bacon and sausages with award-winning eggs from the local farm shop. Poached, scrambled or fried, they're a real treat.
Packed lunches and special diets are catered for with advance notice.
Places to eat out: There are two pubs in the pretty village of East Linton (2 miles away) and also good restaurants in Gullane, Dunbar, Haddington, North Berwick (all about 8 miles away). The McDonalds are happy to advise you and help arrange taxis.
Tariff:
£30 to £35 per person per night, depending on the season, and including breakfast.
£40 to £45, single person in a double room per night.
